Amanda Lilleston Exhibits at Alden B. Dow Museum
From January 12 – April 14, 2013, Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art at the Midland Center for the Arts presents an invitational exhibition: The Anatomy of An Idea, featuring work by Amanda Lilleston (MFA 2012). Examining the human figurative tradition, the featured artists each create images which are inspired by anatomical depiction, but are diverse, communicating in varied approaches. The realists in the exhibition document anatomical features, complexities of musculature and skeletal aspects, posture, and gesture. Other artists deviate from reality through the use distortion, superimposition, dissection and surrealism.
