Internships with the University Record

The University Record, U-M’s weekly faculty and staff newspaper, has opportunities for student internships. The writing intern will cover campus events and contribute editorial content each week. Should be a self-starter and prepared to bring story ideas to weekly meetings. Strong reporting, writing and organizational skills desired, as well as familiarity with Microsoft Office. Design experience preferred but not required. The marketing internship will involve advertising sales, Web maintenance, newspaper layout and related duties. Must be enrolled as a U-M student for the duration of the internship. The positions are funded for 10 hours per week at $10 per hour. Job Requirements: Strong reporting, writing and organizational skills desired, as well as familiarity with Microsoft Word and Adobe Creative Suite (for the marketing internship). Familiarity with Macintosh computers is a plus.

Program Assistant (Exhibitions)

Job Description
Program Assistants will work with student volunteers and University Unions Arts and Programs staff to provide advisement, assistance and leadership in the creation, planning, development, marketing and implementation of student events and programs.

One opening exists in the office for a program assistant interested in working with exhibitions. Program assistants will work with students and staff to provide assistance and leadership in the creation, planning, development, marketing and implementation of student organization, professional and student art exhibits. Program Assistants will assist with set-up and breakdown of exhibits. Exhibits are located in all three University Unions.

Work Study Justification (Work Study is preferred)
Leadership, peer advising, team building/human relations, decision making, student program management and creative skills, marketing, organization

Requirements
Position is for current U of M students only. Experience in successfully developing, planning and/or hosting student-initiated activities is desirable. Experience in superior guest services is a plus. Must be able to work well with diverse groups, have strong communication skills, demonstrate a positive attitude, and a strong ability to trouble shoot situations, be responsible, organized, dependable, and willing to take initiative. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends for programs and afternoons for office hours, averaging 10 hours per week during Fall and Winter semesters.

Major Duties: Assists in development and enhancement of the consumer education section of ftc.gov and other sites managed by the FTC. Produces attractive, professional, and effective online educational products and microsites for a wide range of consumer and business education topics. The person in this job works with DCBE and Bureau staff to understand goals and challenges of assigned projects. The person in this job then provides creative, conceptual approaches and recommendations. He or she is involved in all phases of campaign development and execution, including strategy, design, and development. He or she uses a variety of software programs to design and produce multi-media outreach pieces (Adobe Suite, XHTML, Javascript, CSS). He or she often works under tight deadlines and manages multiple projects.

See Also is an annual program of the Cleveland Public Library in partnership with Cleveland Public Art that invites artists, designers, and other creative professionals to create temporary public art projects in the Eastman Reading Garden. The program commissions innovative, thought-provoking works of art that add to the Library’s already broad range of educational and cultural programming. Each year, one artist or team of artists is selected to exhibit an installation from May until October in this highly visible and beloved space.

Part time Graphic Designer Needed

Direct Incorporation has a long term position for a graphic design student to start immediately. Flexible scheduling, 10-40 per week. The position is to rapidly develop actual marketing material and corporate logos for our small business clients. Internship Fundred Dollar Bill Project

Directed by Mel Chin Studio, OPERATION PAYDIRT is an art, science, and education collaboration supporting a city-wide plan to help end childhood lead poisoning in New Orleans. The project strategy involves both a science driven urban planning effort in New Orleans and a nation-wide collective artwork, The FUNDRED DOLLAR BILL PROJECT, made of millions of drawings.

The FUNDRED DOLLAR BILL PROJECT is seeking Key Operatives to facilitate a nationwide campaign to involve 3 million students and other community members in the creation of “FUNDRED DOLLAR BILLS” - original hand drawn interpretations of U.S. one hundred dollar bills. fotofoto Gallery is pleased to announce its fifth National Juried competition. The competition is open to U.S.-resident photographers 18 years of age or older excluding members of fotofoto gallery. Any photographic medium including digital and alternative processes will be accepted. The maximum height or width of framed work cannot exceed 36 inches . Free-standing pieces cannot be accepted.

Mentor Needed: Photography and/or Film Video

The Michigan Mentorship Program is looking for 1 A&D student to meet for 8 hours with a gifted high school student interested in Photography & Film. . The program runs from June 18-Aug 20 (however, chosen student only works 8 hours during this time frame). The chosen student will be paid $90 for working with the student. The program has been matching UM mentors and H.S. students for 28 years. In the past, participants have found mentoring a bright high school student to be a rewarding experience.
