The Cartier Award for emerging artists living outside the UK is a major initiative by Frieze Projects in collaboration with Gasworks and sponsored by Cartier.
Artists are invited to propose a new work to be realised at Frieze Art Fair 2010, which will be produced under the auspices of Frieze Projects. Proposed works may take the form of site-specific installation; performance; film; video or print work.

The Ottawa Hills Foundation is pleased to sponsor the 6th Sculpture in the Park Exhibition. It will again be placed in the area known as Arrowhead Park. This section of land, bounded by Secor Road, W. Bancroft Street and Indian Road, provides optimal unhindered exposure for sculpture. Thousands of cars pass by the exhibit daily, and it is adjacent to the University of Toledo. Ample parking is available so viewers may proceed on foot. The exhibition sculpture will be placed among the three permanent sculpture pieces on site.

The East Lansing Art Festival announces its call for work by Emerging Artists. You must be a student at a college of university or within two years of graduation from an art program. To be considered you must submit 4 images of your work to be evaluated by a jury process.
Please apply via Zapplication. The application/jury fee is discounted at $30 until November 30, 2009, after which it will increae to $40. All applications due by January 31, 2010.

Concordia University Ann Arbor seeks submission of visual arts that incorporate the various meanings and potential approaches to the idea of creative adaptation or modification of earlier forms, methods, or works. The artwork submitted should be rooted in a “useable past” while addressing a new condition, a new technology, or a new era either formally or thematically. Prints, drawings, paintings, photographs, digital images, sculpture, etc. are eligible. Recipients of awards will be determined by the juror, Rebecca Hart, associate curator and acting Head of Contemporary Art for the Detroit Institute of Arts, and announced at the opening reception. The artist chosen as “Best of Show” will receive a solo exhibit in the Kreft Gallery at Concordia University Ann Arbor in the 2010-2011 season. Only original artwork produced within the past five
years will be accepted-reproductions are not permitted. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply.

& Design at East Tennessee State University has consistently served as a platform for diverse visual art production that surveyed various media,
perspective and style from all over the country since 1985.
AWARD
Up to $1,500.00 in awards will be presented to participating artists, including $500.00 Best of Show cash award. Participation in future shows

The Polk Museum of Art, in cooperation with the City of Winter Haven, Florida, is accepting submissions from sculptors to participate in The Tenth Annual Florida Outdoor Sculpture Competition. Gen Art introduces a design competition based on the versatility and usability of plastic based fibers in fashion, presented by Plastics Make it PossibleSM.
Sound like a stretch? Chances are, you’re already using these materials in your designs. So many of the things we wear, design and covet every day are made from Plastics; Jersey, Chiffon and Dupioni, not to mention Lycra, Suede velvet, Mesh and dozens more.
HOW TO ENTER:
Submit two photos of two full womenswear looks primarily made from one or more of these plastic-based fabrics between Thursday, October 29th – December 1st. See the full list of fibers here.
THE PRIZE:
One winner will receive a $10,000 stipend to create their own 10 piece Fall 2010 collection using the list of approved fabrics to be showcased at Gen Art’s New York Fashion Week show in February.

Xylem is the Undergraduate English Association’s annually published literary journal that features the best poetry, prose and art by University of Michigan students. Every aspect of the journal is run by UEA’s student members, from publicity to production to publication. The result? An entirely student-designed showcase of the university’s most brilliant creative minds.
We know that you have serious talent. If you’re interested in seeing this talent manifested on the pages of Xylem Magazine, please follow the submission guidelines listed below:
- Email all submissions as attachments (.doc files for writing, .jpg for photography and artwork) to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Include your last name in the file name.
- The work should be in 12pt. Times New Roman font (poetry should be single spaced; stories and essays should be double spaced).
- Submissions up to ten pages in length (or ten works of art) are welcome, or any combination thereof.

The prestigious Abraaj Capital Art Prize, established by the Dubai-based private equity firm Abraaj Capital, is expanding the number of winners to five from three for 2011 to offer more contemporary artists from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) the opportunity to benefit from the resources and global recognition the prize offers.
