January 11 – Feburary 8
Reception: February 5, 4:30 - 5:30pm
Slusser Gallery
From the idea of “paper architecture” from Renaissance Italy to the rejected proposals by Soviet architects in the 1950’s, the concept of exhibiting drawings, sketches, unrealizable proposals and preliminary studies has held a place in the imagination of artists and designers. Preliminary work such as sketches, writings, models, prototypes, videos, and photographs all hold a special, deeply personal quality that reveals the inner workings of the creative process. At times, these works-in-progress can be powerfully elegant in their unfettered raw state and surprisingly agile in thought.
This exhibition calls on the faculty to submit such “in progress” works.
