Detroit Connections is a series of courses offered through the University of Michigan School of Art & Design that take students, staff, and faculty weekly from Ann Arbor to Detroit to lead art classes and design collaborative projects with youth in Detroit schools and community organizations. Promoting engaged and active citizenry and requiring out-of-the-box creative thinking, Detroit Connections brings together individuals from a variety of different backgrounds to co-create and share resources. In a year that Detroit Connections has been expanding its reach to partner with additional schools, neighborhoods, and age groups, Dreams into Action showcases the products and processes of the ongoing collaborations students and faculty from the School of Art & Design have built across the city.
Open during exhibitions Tuesday through Saturday: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm, Closed Sunday/Monday and Holidays. Free Admission.

In recent years, America, as a place, a culture, a concept, has increasingly become the material of artists. We see the repurposing by artists of all things American, including corporate brands and logos, music and fashion, flags, Presidents, taxidermied deer and bald eagles, American Indian motifs, and political advertisement references. This show will include works that address this broad concept with widely varying perspectives and agendas, including nationalistic pride, political and social commentary, and fascination with images and forms that are essentially American.
Open during exhibitions Tuesday through Saturday: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm, Closed Sunday/Monday and Holidays. Free Admission.
