PROPOSE AN EXHIBITION

The University of Michigan School of Art & Design Exhibition/Performance Committee is seeking exhibition proposals for Fall 2010 / Winter 2011 for Work • Detroit Gallery; Work • Ann Arbor Gallery; Slusser Gallery; and PLAY Gallery, a web/time-based venue. A&D faculty, staff, students, as well as artists, designers and curators affiliated with the School of Art & Design are all encouraged to submit.

1. Develop an idea for a thematic group exhibition.

Past A&D exhibitions have dealt with a range of subjects from the color “green” and mental illness, to the mass media and individual identity. Only thematic group exhibition proposals will be considered. No solo show proposals.

2. Determine who will work with you.

Will your exhibition draw in the entire A&D community (undergraduates, graduates, faculty, staff)? Will other Departments/Schools in the University be involved? Does the proposal encourage participation from local, regional, national, and international artists and designers? A&D undergraduates proposing an exhibition will need a faculty advisor who has agreed to collaborate on the proposal and oversee the completion of the project. Undergraduate students may earn one internship credit for preparing and carrying out an exhibition.

3. Submit a preliminary proposal by Monday, November 2, 2009
