You should be prepared with the following items on your scheduled audition date:
At your audition, you will be asked to present a short (2-4 minutes) performance piece that demonstrates your own area of performance skill or interest, (puppetry, dance, animal impersonations, martial art, etc…). You may also be asked to improvise a short biographical monologue, e.g., "What I like/dislike about riding bicycles." Applicants also interview with Interarts Performance faculty and must be prepared to discuss their experience in both fields and their reasons for choosing this degree.
For each Dual Admission applicant, two separate admission evaluations are carried out, one for the School of Art & Design and one for the other academic unit. Depending upon qualifications, applicants may be admitted to both academic units or only one. Dual admission applicants will receive two admission decisions from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

5. Demonstrate ability to provide full Financial Support.
The University of Michigan Office of Undergraduate Admissions will send the student a letter of admission with necessary documents for securing a visa and planning study at the School of Art & Design. For more information, see: Visa Information
The exchange partner institution identifies a student for exchange and notifies A&D's Undergraduate Admissions office. After A&D's admissions officers send approval for application via email, the student submits the following materials:
1. Portfolio and artist’s statement.
May be a URL for an online portfolio, a cd/dvd, or hard-copy photos. Slides are not accepted.
2. Statement of Purpose.
A statement that addresses the student's reason for wanting to study at U-M School of Art & Design.
3. University of Michigan Non-Degree application.
All admissions go through the U-M Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Visit University of Michigan Office of Admissions: Non-Degree Applicants for more information about the process and the form.
4. English language proficiency scores.
MELAB, TOEFL, or IELTS test scores are required of all speakers of English as a second language. The score report should be sent directly to the University of Michigan from the testing service. Please see University of Michigan Office of Admissions: Exams & Visas for detailed information about these tests.
5. Official transcript (in English) from the student's home institution.
Certified English translations of transcripts will also be accepted.
6. Financial Resource Statement form.
Completion of this form is required before students can obtain a visa. Information about the form and visas is available at University of Michigan Office of Admissions: Exams & Visas. Requirements include an original, official bank statement (in English) specifying the exact amount currently on deposit or an employer’s letter (in English) specifying the sponsor’s annual salary, or other guaranteed funding the student will receive. Deduct the listed tuition, and consider 1/2 the living expenses for one term.
Students must obtain an F-1 visa. Once all materials are submitted and students are officially admitted, students will receive an I-20 Form along with the official admit letter, two documents that are required to apply for a visa.
